Note to readers: The post below contains crude language. I have hung a mask on the offending word, but its meaning will be obvious. Please do not read if offended by four letter words. My apologies.
I just had a minor revelation as I had this article up and ready to post. I grew up in a small town in North Carolina. Until I went away to a military school in the seventh and eighth grades, I never remember hearing an adult or a kid swear or cuss, with the exception of Rhett Butler's "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" in Gone With The Wind.
Crude, lewd, and unglued: that's what we've come to.

This week Samantha Egg, some sort of a comedian and host of some sort of show called “Full Frontal With Samantha Bee”, called Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka “a feckless “c**t” after Ivanka appeared in a Tweet holding her young son.
Actress Sally Field, who fifty years ago starred in a silly but charming television series The Flying Nun, chimed in with this Tweet: “I Like Samantha Bee a lot, but she is flat wrong to call Ivanka a c*nt. C**ts are powerful, beautiful, nurturing and honest.”
Really?
I must be behind the times, because I am confused. (Given my isolation from popular culture and my age, my ignorance would not surprise me.) Is Sally Field referencing anatomy, in which case can she explain her choice of adjectives, particularly “honest?” Or do females these days really compliment each other with the honorific c**t? I know some black rappers use the N-word in their songs, but I have never known any woman who called a friend a c**t, implying she was “powerful, beautiful, nurturing, and honest”.
C**t is an ugly word. It looks ugly. It sounds ugly. It reduces a woman to a single body part, demeaning and objectifying them. Do any women, young or old, actually use this term to mean powerful or beautiful, nurturing or honest? To me, only a drunken sleazeball beating his wife or girlfriend uses c**t as a form of address.
Women, chime in here if you like. Does anyone out there associate c**t with the descriptions provided by Sally Fields? (Who is, by the way, even older than I). Do you affectionately address your friend by that word, or compliment her by on social media by calling her a c**t? Let me hear from you at facebook.com/MinickOnline.
