Were she alive today, my mother would surely be a target for cancel culture. She loved listening to recordings of Broadway musicals, and stuck the lyrics of some of these songs into the brains of her children. Even as I write these words, I'm humming "Bloody Mary" to myself and tapping my feet to "My doll is as dainty as a sparrow."
